The Dark Knight Rises Casting News

February 14, 2011

I want to be in the society...

Some more news about the cast of Christopher Nolan’s third installment in his incredible Batman series may have just been leaked. We already learned a few weeks ago that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selena Kyle, aka Catwoman, and Tom Hardy (Inception, Rock’n’Rolla) has been picked to play Bane. But SuperHeroHype reports that insane Batman fans all over the world can be excited to see two more great actors joining the cast. According to the site, both Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been added to the billing. The characters they will play are unclear, but SuperHeroHype stipulates that Cotillard could be playing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul whom Batman defeated in Nolan’s first movie Batman Begins. The rumors surrounding Gordon-Levitt are that he will take on the role of Alberto Falcone, the son of Carmine Falcone whom Batman also brought to swift justice in Batman Begins. These two additions could very cool, seeing as they are both great actors and this proposed plot line brings in a new generation to Gotham’s crime and justice scene. I just hope that Nolan isn’t pulling a Spider Man III and throwing too many villains in the mix. By the way, Spider Man III was one of the worst movies ever, if you didn’t already know, which would be a blessing for you if you didn’t because you got the chance to not see it. Nolan seems to be eyeing his cast from Inception, as Levitt and Cotillard will be reuniting with Tom Hardy and Michael Cane, who were both in Inception as well.

The rest of the cast from the two previous movies will also be returning, including Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. I’m guessing one of the women cast will play a love interest for Bruce, most likely Selina Kyle, seeing as Batman kind of killed Talia al Ghul’s father, she’s probably not going to be all that into him. Here is a look at the new casting compared to their proposed comic book characters. Looks pretty good, eh?
